Grants

Since the Association was founded in 1936 the Friends have made grants for a very wide variety of projects.

These were all financed from subscriptions and interest and no special appeal has ever been made.

The list below gives some idea how this money has been used.

Each year the Association makes a grant to the Needlework Guild towards the cost of items upon which they are currently working. The following pictures depict some of these items:

Almost from the foundation of the Association an annual grant has been made to a fund for the maintenance and repair of the Organ.
 

 

An annual grant is also made to the Flower Fund.

Another annual grant is made by the Friends for the repair and conservation of books in the cathedral library.

Cushions have been provided by the Friends for the Canon's Stalls in the Choir and also for the Chapter House.
 

New choir lighting

 

To commemorate the sixtieth anniversary of the foundation of the Association of the Friends of Lincoln Cathedral new lighting was provided for the choir stalls.  
 

 

A grant was made towards the cost of the restoration of the Musician's Window from a bequest made by Edward Mason to the Association.

The Friends paid for the cleaning of the Cathedral south-west front from
funds received from a legacy

The Friends funded the new heating in the Chapter House
